Medium and heavy duty truck sales continued at strong levels in the North America market, according to first quarter retail sales information from reporting companies. While sales of class 5 to class 8 trucks were up 11.9 percent in the U.S., Canadian medium and heavy duty truck sales observed a slight decline of 1.3 percent compared to Q1 2013. Overall the markets remain strong, however, with the current phase in of stricter fuel economy/emissions regulations producing a far more muted reaction in the market than was seen in 2006/2007.
